Kate de Medeiros, PhD, is Associate Professor of Gerontology in the Department of Sociology and Gerontology at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Her dementia-related research includes the meaning of place and friendships in long-term care, self and personhood, and the role of the participatory arts. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Alzheimer’s Association.
